2019 NBA Draft Lottery Odds: Knicks, Cavaliers, Suns Have Best Chance At No. 1 Pick

The on-court play has been relatively good for an NBA playoff compared to past years, but the draft lottery is one of the most exciting parts of the conference finals getting underway. With the change in the lottery rules, intended to make “tanking” less appealing, the bottom three teams in the standings are tied for the best odds for the No. 1 overall pick at 14% instead of the old rules that gave a 25% chance to the league’s worst team.

[UPDATE: Here is the draft order after the lottery.]

1. New Orleans Pelicans

2. Memphis Grizzlies

3. New York Knicks

4. Los Angeles Lakers

5. Cleveland Cavaliers

6. Phoenix Suns

7. Chicago bulls

8. Atlanta Hawks

9. Washington Wizards

10. Atlanta Hawks

11.Minnesota Timberwolves

12. Charlotte Hornets

13. Miami Heat

14. Boston Celtics

The top-four draft picks are determined by the lottery system, with all non-playoff teams having an opportunity to jump into the top four, unless they already traded the rights to their selection. This year, the Grizzlies and Mavericks can lose their pick and the Kings will lose their pick (more info on that below).

The team that gets the No. 1 pick will presumably draft Duke’s Zion Williamson, who appears to be a transcendent type of player that can change a franchise. So this could be one of the most important draft lotteries in years, with most hardcore fans and many intrigued average fans tuning in. Below are the lottery odds, but this article will be updated with the results and full first-round draft order when the lottery concludes tonight.
