Adam Thielen has agreed to a four-year extension with the Vikings.
His agency announced the deal, and it's worth $64 million with the chance to reach $73 million with incentives, so it's a $16 million per season with a potential max value of $18.3 million per season. This puts Thielen among the highest-paid wide receivers in football on a per-year basis, and it keeps Thielen and Stefon Diggs both locked up for Minnesota through the 2022 season. Thielen was just a second-team All-Pro in 2017, and he followed it up with an even better season statistically last year, with 113 receptions, 1,373 yards, and nine touchdowns, though his yards per reception dipped to 12.2 after he was at 14.0 the previous two seasons. From a fantasy perspective, this doesn't change Thielen's value much if at all for 2019, but he'll remain a high-floor option for the foreseeable future with the Vikings.
Adam Thielen held in check as Minnesota loses to the Bears, 24-10.
Thielen caught three-of-four targets for 38 yards. The biggest miss was a deep ball that drew a penalty, but it could have been a touchdown if he and Kirk Cousins were on the same page. The All-Pro wideout and his quarterback ended up getting into a fairly contentious conversation on the bench, and their ineffectiveness as an offense will lead to them watching the playoffs at home. Thielen's breakout 2017 season was followed up with even better numbers—113 receptions for 1,373 yards and nine touchdowns—in 2018, but Minnesota has some things to figure out in the offseason.
Adam Thielen caught five passes for 80 yards in Sunday's win over Detroit.
He also rushed once for a three-yard gain. Thielen sparked the offense on a 40-yard reception in the second quarter to set up Minnesota's first touchdown of the day, but it was Kyle Rudolph (9/122/2) that finally emerged to carry the passing attack. Now, the Vikings will lock up a playoff berth if they can beat the Bears in Week 17, so Thielen should be a big factor despite a tough matchup. Consider him a low-end WR1.
Adam Thielen catches two passes in Week 15.
Thielen gained 19 yards on his two receptions against the Dolphins. He was targeted just two times in the game, setting season-lows across the board. This obviously came at a bad time for fantasy owners with Thielen on their playoff rosters, but a decrease in volume for Minnesota's passing attack put a dent in the pass-game production for the Vikings. Thielen will look to bounce back with a stronger individual performance in Week 16, but he has a tough matchup against a Lions team that limited him to a 4/22/1 line in their first matchup this season.
Adam Thielen catches five passes against the Seahawks.
Thielen gained 70 yards on his five receptions and added one carry for eight yards in the Vikings' Monday night loss. He was quiet for most of the game, but he came alive for some solid yardage with the Vikings in comeback mode down the entire game. Thielen crossed the 100-reception mark in the loss, along with crossing the 1,200-yard mark for the second consecutive season. Keep him locked into fantasy lineups for the second week of the fantasy playoffs when he faces the Dolphins in Week 15.
Adam Thielen scores in Vikings' loss to the Patriots.
Thielen caught five passes (on ten targets) for 28 yards and a touchdown in the Week 13 loss, with the score coming on a short corner route against double coverage as he got free on a natural rub. Despite the touchdown, New England basically shut Thielen down, which probably caused him to be frustrated and led perhaps his highlight of the afternoon: shouting at Bill Belichick, who told him to "shut the f*** up." Thielen apparently believed Patriots safety Patrick Chung was faking an injury to give his team more time to decide whether to challenge (which didn't appear to be the case), so Thielen yelled at Belichick about it. The former undrafted receiver has surprisingly shown a bit of an unhinged side at times. He'll look to take out any anger on the Seahawks in Week 14.
Adam Thielen scores in Week 12.
Thielen caught eight passes for 125 yards and a touchdown against the Packers, with the score coming on a 14-yard touchdown where he made himself available for a scrambling Kirk Cousins and then turned up the field for six. It didn’t even feel like Thielen was doing that much damage throughout the game, but you look up and he hits the century-mark—he just goes about his business and puts up numbers. This is Thielen’s ninth 100-yard receiving game of the season after he went two straight games without one. Next week at New England, Thielen is likely to either see near-constant double teams or a lot of great cornerback Stephon Gilmore. He’s obviously too good not to keep locked into fantasy lineups as a great WR1, though.
Adam Thielen sees 12 targets in loss to the Bears.
Like the entire Minnesota offense, Thielen was held in check for most of the game, but he ended up finishing with seven receptions for 66 yards and a two-point conversion. The All-Pro receiver has slowed down after a scorching start with lines of 4/22/1 and 7/66 over the past two weeks, but he should remain a solid WR1 next week against the Packers, especially because he is expected to mostly avoid Jaire Alexander in the slot. Sunday night was Thielen's "worst" game of the year with 8.6 fantasy points in standard leagues.
Adam Thielen scores in Vikings' win.
Thielen caught four passes for 22 yards and a touchdown along with one carry for five yards against the Lions. The All-Pro receiver had to deal with Darius Slay and some double teams throughout the game, and his record-breaking streak of eight-straight 100-yard receiving games to start a season was snapped, but the touchdown helped make it another productive day for fantasy owners. After the bye, Thielen will hopefully have teammate Stefon Diggs (rib) back to help take some pressure off him when they face the Bears.
Adam Thielen again goes over 100 yards in Week 8.
Thielen caught seven passes for 103 yards and a touchdown along with one carry for 15 yards and a fumble lost against the Saints. The lost fumble was costly, but overall it was another exceptional game from Thielen. The former undrafted player extended his own NFL-record streak of consecutive 100-yard games to start a season, and he tied the great Calvin Johnson for the most consecutive 100-yard games in a season (eight). Through eight games, Thielen is on pace for a mind-boggling 148/1,850/12 line, and the 148 catches would set a new single-season NFL record (the record is currently 143 receptions).
Adam Thielen goes over 100 yards again in Vikings' win.
Thielen caught nine passes for 110 yards and one touchdown against the Jets, with the score coming on a 34-yard deep ball in the first quarter. With the performance, Thielen is the first player in the Super Bowl era with over 100 receiving yards in his team's first seven games of the season. Thielen is basically unstoppable right now, and the Saints will have their hands full trying to stop him next Sunday night.
Adam Thielen continues scorching pace in win over the Cardinals.
Thielen caught 11-of-15 passes for 123 yards and one touchdown, becoming the first player in NFL history to go over 100 receiving yards in each of the first six games of a season (after becoming the first to do it for five games last week). Defenses will probably start doing whatever they can to stop him, but on pace for a 155/1,898/10.6 line, Thielen is arguably a top-three option in all formats heading into a matchup with the Jets.
Adam Thielen makes history in Vikings' Week 5 win.
Thielen caught seven-of-ten targets for 116 yards and a touchdown against the Eagles, becoming the first player in NFL history to have over 100 yards in the first five games of the season. Thielen's day was highlighted by a long 68-yard reception on a double-move against Eagles cornerback Jalen Mills and a touchdown on a beautiful pitch-and-catch to the back corner of the end zone from Kirk Cousins. Thielen has simply been amazing this season, and there's no reason to believe he won't keep it going next week against the Cardinals.
Adam Thielen again goes over 100 yards in Vikings' loss.
Thielen had another exceptional game to open the season, as he caught eight-of-12 targets for 135 yards and a touchdown against the Rams. The score came out a 45-yard pass right down the seam, where Thielen was basically wide-open. With this 100-yard effort, Thielen became the third player since 1970 to have 100 receiving yards in each of the first four games of the season, joining Randy Moss and Isaac Bruce. Through four games, Thielen is on pace for 160 receptions, 1,892 yards, and eight touchdowns.
Adam Thielen goes for 14/105 in shocking loss to the Bills.
Thielen basically operated as a consistent security blanket for Kirk Cousins in a game that the Vikings couldn't even put points up in until the fourth quarter, as Minnesota didn't have a 20-yard play all day. Still, Thielen owners have to be happy with his start after lines of 6/102 and 12/131/1 over the first two games, and he looks like an every-week WR1 that should stay hot when Minnesota's offense hopefully picks it up.
Adam Thielen goes for 12/131/1 in Week 2 tie.
Thielen capped off a huge fourth quarter with a 22-yard touchdown reception that he somehow caught with two defenders around him, but a couple missed field goals in overtime caused the game to finish 29-29 against the rival Packers. The All-Pro receiver should get another good matchup next Sunday against the Bills, so he should be treated as a WR1/WR2 option.
Adam Thielen goes over 100 yards in Week 1 victory.
Thielen was Kirk Cousins' primary target against the Niners, drawing a team-high 12 targets. Thielen caught six passes for 102 yards, including a long of 34 yards in the win. There was some concern about a lack of preseason connection between Cousins and Thielen, but Cousins looked comfortable targeting him throughout the afternoon. Thielen should remain in fantasy lineups next week against Green Bay.
Adam Thielen contained in NFC Championship loss.
Thielen caught three passes for 28 yards in the 38-7 defeat to Philly. The Pro Bowl receiver almost made a spectacular touchdown reception to keep his team in it in the second half, but it was overturned on review. It was a disappointing finish to a spectacular season, but Thielen proved himself as a WR1 option this year. He should be considered early in fantasy drafts depending on the quarterback situation for Minnesota.
Adam Thielen (lower back) is officially active for the NFC Championship.
There was not any doubt Thielen would be ready to go against the Eagles, but he is reportedly not really 100%. However, we expect him to look close to his usual self once he gets going in the game. The All-Pro receiver should be heavily-targeted versus Philadelphia's corners, and he should make some plays with a Super Bowl berth on the line.
Adam Thielen (lower back) is questionable for the NFC Championship.
While Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer says his All-Pro wide receiver will be listed as questionable, there's little doubt he will be out there against the Eagles. Thielen worked his way from being undrafted and off the radar to a great player with a chance to play in the Super Bowl on the line, so it'd take a serious injury to prevent him from playing. His status might not be official until around 5:00 PM ET on Sunday, but you can safely insert Thielen into lineups if you're playing any fantasy playoff challenges.
Adam Thielen (lower back) was limited in practice today.
Thielen didn't participate in yesterday's practice, so this is a step in the right direction. He will certainly be out there against the Eagles with a trip to the Super Bowl on the line, but it's possible he'll be at less than 100%. We'll see how he's limited on the official injury report for the NFC Championship when it is released tomorrow.
Adam Thielen (lower back) did not practice today.
There isn't much concern about Thielen missing Sunday's NFC Championship versus the Eagles, but his back is something to keep an eye on after he injured it in Minnesota's Divisional Round win against the Saints. We'll update you on Thielen's practice status tomorrow.
Adam Thielen comes up big in playoff win.
Theilen caught six passes for 74 yards in the 29-24 victory. He was shadowed by Pro Bowl cornerback Marshon Lattimore, but Theilen made a couple sensational plays on the second-t0-last drive of the game to set up what would have been the game-winning field goal if not for two more score changes. The final score change came on the final play of the game on a 61-yard connection by Case Keenum and Stefon Diggs to cap an instant classic. Theilen will be a tough cover for Philadelphia in the NFC Championship.
Adam Thielen catches six passes in Week 17.
Thielen gained 61 yards on his six receptions. His final stat line for 2017 was 91 receptions for 1,276 yards and four touchdowns, as he took his breakout 2016 and took it to another level this year. He should make some big plays in the postseason for the Vikings.
Adam Thielen catches two passes against the Packers.
Thielen had only two receptions (on six targets) for 24 yards in tonight's Week 16 victory. Unfortunately, Thielen was hurt by the Vikings only throwing for 139 yards on the night, as the team rode strong defense to a shutout victory and didn't need much heavy lifting from the passing offense. Thielen now has only five receptions for 54 yards over the last two weeks, but the Pro Bowler still remains a strong option in fantasy lineups for Week 17 against Chicago.
Adam Thielen has quiet day as Vikings dominate.
Thielen caught three passes for 30 yards, both of which are his lowest of the season. Fantasy owners shouldn't be worried about their WR1 for the fantasy championship, though, as the Vikings didn't air it out much because they didn't have to. Carrying a season line of 83/1,191/4 into Week 16, Thielen should bounce back against the Packers.
Adam Thielen has another big day in loss to the Panthers.
Thielen caught six passes for 105 yards and a touchdown. The score was a 52-yarder down the middle where he outran the defense and essentially made it a game when things were looking bleak for Minnesota. They were able to tie things up with a field goal on the following drive, but Carolina answered with a game-winning touchdown drive to win 31-24. Thielen also couldn't bring in two would-be touchdowns down near the goal line earlier in the game, but fantasy owners should be happy with their star receiver. He's a solid WR1 in Week 15 against Cincinnati.
Adam Thielen contained in win over the Falcons.
Thielen led the team in receiving with 51 yards on four receptions, but it was his first game of the season with less than five catches. Still, it was another respectable fantasy day for the star receiver, and he remains a WR1 as the first-place Vikings head to Carolina for the first week of the fantasy playoffs.
Adam Thielen scores for third-straight week as Vikings handle Rams.
Thielen caught six passes for 123 yards, with the highlight being a 65-yard catch-and-run touchdown in the fourth quarter to put Minnesota up 21-7. A legitimate star, Thielen has a combined 14 receptions for 289 yards and two touchdowns over the past two weeks. He needs to be in lineups against the Lions on Thanksgiving.
Adam Thielen goes off against the Redskins.
Thielen again showed he's one of the NFL's top receivers, as he caught eight of 12 targets for 166 yards and a touchdown in the Week 10 victory. Thielen had a long of 49 yards in the game, and he continuously got open throughout the game. The touchdown came on a pass by the goal line where he made himself available for Case Keenum, who threw a perfect pass away from Josh Norman for the score. The Vikings face a Rams defense in what isn't an easy matchup for receivers, but Thielen is a WR1/WR2 that should be in lineups every week.
Adam Thielen scores in Week 8.
Thielen had another excellent game, catching five of ten targets for 98 yards and a touchdown against the Browns in London. Thielen’s touchdown was on a simple go route for 18 yards where he was cut loose by the Browns secondary and wide open in the end zone. The Vikings have a bye next week, but get Thielen right back into your lineup in Week 10.
Adam Thielen gets 12 targets in Week 7.
Thielen was the clear lead guy again with Sefon Diggs (groin) out, but he didn't have as big of a game as last week against Green Bay. He caught five passes for 41 yards in the difficult matchup with the Ravens. Diggs is questionable at best for a trip to London next week, but Thielen will be a very good option against the Browns either way.
Adam Thielen caught nine passes for 97 yards in Sunday's win over the Packers.
Thielen operated as the team's number-one receiver with Stefon Diggs (groin) out, and he continued his impressive season. The only thing missing right now is a touchdown, but they will hopefully come soon. Thielen has a difficult matchup with Baltimore in Week 7, but he should remain in fantasy lineups, particularly in PPR leagues, and especially if Diggs is out again.
Adam Thielen catches five passes in Week 5.
Thielen caught five of eight targets for 34 yards against the Bears, and he also had an 11-yard carry on a jet sweep. Overall, the Vikings couldn't get anything going down the field against the pass rush of the Bears, which led to subpar production from the receivers. Thielen should have a bigger game next Sunday against Green Bay, though it looks like he could be without top quarterback Sam Bradford again. He had 12 receptions for 202 yards and two touchdowns in their second game versus the Packers last season.
Adam Thielen gets team-high eight targets in Vikings' loss.
Thielen caught five passes for 59 yards against the Lions, but he had a key fumble on the final drive for the Vikings while the team was down seven. You have to feel for Thielen, who's been playing very well all season long. Thielen is on pace for 96 receptions, 1,432 yards, and zero touchdowns as he's been the NFL's best receiver tandem with Stefon Diggs so far this year. The touchdowns should certainly come, and Thielen is looking like one of the best mid-late round fantasy picks this season as he continues his breakout from 2016.
Adam Thielen plays very well in Week 3 win.
Thielen had five receptions for 98 yards against the Buccaneers. It was obviously a great game for him, even without Sam Bradford at quarterback for a second straight game. Thielen looks like he's going to put up consistent numbers each week, and he's a high-floor WR2/FLEX option with upside next week against the Lions.
Adam Thielen catches five of six targets in Week 2.
Thielen had 44 yards, including a long of 24 yards, versus the Steelers. Obviously, Sam Bradford returning will help Thielen be a much better FLEX/WR2 option in Week 3 against Tampa Bay.
Adam Thielen goes off in Week 1 win against the Saints.
Thielen led the Vikings with nine receptions for 157 yards in the first half of the Week 1 MNF doubleheader. Thielen picked up chunk yardage on a few occasions, including a 44-yarder on a deep crossing-type route from the slot. Dating back to last season, Thielen has been on fire (he had 202 yards in Week 16 last season). If Sam Bradford is given time to throw, Thielen could do some real damage this season.
Adam Thielen catches all five targets in the Vikings' third preseason game.
Thielen had 50 yards on his five receptions, and it was a good day considering the Vikings were shut out in the first half against the 49ers. After a breakout 2016, Thielen is looking to take another step forward and have his first 1,000-yard season in 2017. He has Sam Bradford's trust and should have a high floor as a late-round fantasy selection.
Vikings receiver Adam Thielen says he still has "a long ways to go," according to the Pioneer Press.
Thielen broke out last season for 69 receptions, 967 yards, and five touchdowns, which led to a nice three-year, $27 million contract. Thielen made it clear that he's still working hard to get better and has "too much to work on, too many big goals, to reflect on anything." Thielen got open on short, intermediate, and deep routes for Sam Bradford last season, proving to be a reliable target. The Vikings paid him to continue to be an integral part of the offense, and Thielen offers a pretty high floor in 2017.
Vikings extend restricted free agent Adam Thielen with three-year deal.
Thielen was a big surprise last season, becoming an integral part of the Vikings offense. He was a reliable target for quarterback Sam Bradford on short, intermediate, and deep routes. Thielen should be a high floor option in the late rounds of 2017 fantasy drafts.
Adam Thielen held to one catch after big Week 16.
It went for seven yards, so Thielen fell 33 yards short of 1,000 for the season. He had 69 catches for 967 yards and five touchdowns in a breakout year, and should open 2017 with a nice role in Minnesota's offense. Thielen has shown surprising big-play ability this season with Sam Bradford under center.
Thielen goes over 200 yards in loss to Packers.
Thielen was one of the only bright spots for the Vikings in a Week 16 loss to the Packers. He caught 12 passes for 202 yards and two touchdowns against an injured Packers secondary. Thielen seems to have supplanted Stefon Diggs as the main target on the Vikings. Against the Bears in Week 17, Thielen is a great FLEX option.
Adam Thielen leaves Week 15 with a neck injury.
He had no catches before leaving. If Thielen is OK for Week 16, he'll be a FLEX option against the Packers.
Adam Thielen has another productive game for Minnesota.
He had four catches for 101 yards on five targets. Thielen has made quite the impact for the Vikings this season. He's turned into a very reliable FLEX option, including this upcoming week against the Colts.
Adam Thielen caught seven passes for 86 yards in the Vikings' loss to the Cowboys.
Thielen has been a reliable option for quarterback Sam Bradford, and quietly has been a consistent fantasy option since he went for 7/127/1 against the Texans in Week 5. Since then, Thielen is averaging eight fantasy points per game. He's a solid FLEX for Week 14 against Jacksonville.
Thielen catches eight passes in Week 12.
He had eight receptions for 53 yards. The Vikings couldn't get anything going down the field, but Thielen was consistently targeted underneath by Sam Bradford. If Diggs (knee) misses any more time, Thielen would be a decent high-floor FLEX option.
Adam Thielen steps up for Vikings in Week 11.
Thielen had five catches for 65 yards, including a great catch in the endzone on a dime from Sam Bradford to open the game. Thielen has been a low-floor option lately, but he’s a bit of a gamble in your fantasy lineup. He’s a FLEX option on Thanksgiving against the Lions.
Adam Thielen catches a touchdown in Week 10.
Thielen had three catches for 21 yards and a touchdown against the Redskins. Thielen isn't a terrible fantasy option, but you should be able to do better in your lineup.
