Alvin Kamara gets 20 touches in Saints' playoff win.
Kamara had 16 carries for 71 yards along with four reception for 35 yards in the Divisional Round victory over the Eagles. The Eagles played pretty well against the run, but Kamara did a nice job of finding holes and picking up positive yardage throughout the win. With a Super Bowl berth on the line, look for Kamara to get another 20+ touches in the NFC Championship Game next Sunday against the Rams.
Alvin Kamara is inactive for Week 17.
The Saints are ensuring their explosive second-year running back enters the postseason fully healthy, and he could be set for a bigger workload in January as the team looks to make a Super Bowl run. Kamara's regular season ends with 194 carries for 883 yards and 14 touchdowns along with 81 receptions for 709 yards and four touchdowns. Those that selected Kamara with a high first-round pick in fantasy drafts were certainly happy with the results, and he'll obviously remain a perennial high selection in most drafts moving forward.
Alvin Kamara scores twice against the Steelers.
Kamara carried seven times for 23 yards and two touchdowns along with four receptions for 82 yards in the Saints' Week 16 victory. On one of Kamara's scores, he showed his usual exceptional core strength and balance by brushing off a couple of would-be tackles on his way to the end zone. Kamara might not play in Week 17 with New Orleans locked in a No. 1 seed, so be prepared to go without him in fantasy championship matchups that have not concluded.
Alvin Kamara scores in Saints' Monday night win.
Kamara carried 14 times for 67 yards and a touchdown along with seven receptions for 36 yards in the Week 15 win over the Panthers. It was fun to see Kamara do battle with Carolina's defense led by Luke Kuechly throughout the night, and he delivered a solid performance for fantasy owners. The score was on a 16-yard score on a run that he bounced outside before going untouched to the end zone. Next week against the Steelers isn't an easy matchup, but Kamara will remain one of the better Week 16 fantasy options with fantasy titles on the line.
Alvin Kamara gets 17 touches against the Buccaneers.
Kamara carried 12 times for 51 yards and caught five passes for 36 yards along with a two-point conversion in the Saints' Week 14 win. This was another game that was just OK for fantasy owners, as Kamara has been without a touchdown the past three games. The explosive second-year running back will look to have a big performance next Monday night against the Panthers, and fantasy owners will be hoping he can find the end zone at least once in the game.
Alvin Kamara gets 19 touches in loss to the Cowboys.
Kamara carried 11 times for 36 yards and added eight receptions for 36 yards in the Week 13 loss. No one could get much going for New Orleans tonight, as Dallas had an excellent game defensively; Kamara was no different, as he had a long run of just seven yards and a long reception of just eight yards. It was an adequate performance if you play in PPR formats, but Kamara will look to have a bigger overall game next week against the Buccaneers.
Alvin Kamara handles 15 touches in win over the Falcons.
Kamara rushed 14 times for 89 yards, also adding a nine-yard rush. Particularly for PPR owners, it wasn't a performance to write home about for Kamara, but from a real-life perspective, he consistently gashed Atlanta by breaking arm tackles in a 31-17 victory. The 10-1 Saints will now face the surging Cowboys next Thursday night, and Kamara obviously remains a great RB1 play.
Alvin Kamara scores against the Eagles.
Kamara had 13 carries for 71 yards and one reception for 37 yards and a touchdown in the Saints' Week 11 victory. Mark Ingram ran the ball well and scored twice on the ground, but there was more than enough to go around in New Orleans' offense. The score was late in the game on a 37-yard deep ball down the right sideline against Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins to extend an already big lead. Obviously, you'll want to keep Kamara in Week 12 fantasy lineups against a Falcons team he had 15 receptions for 124 yards against in Week 3.
Alvin Kamara scores twice in Saints' win.
Kamara carried 12 times for 56 yards and a touchdown along with four receptions for 46 yards against the Bengals. The explosive second-year back didn't have any huge highlight plays, but the two touchdowns helped make it a very productive day in a game the Saints took the foot off the pedal a bit late in a blowout victory. Kamara next returns home to face the Eagles, and he obviously remains a strong RB1 option in what could be a high-scoring game.
Alvin Kamara scores three touchdowns in Saints' win.
In a huge game with potential NFC playoff seeding ramifications, the Saints unleashed Kamara early and often against the Rams. Kamara had 19 carries for 82 yards and two touchdowns along with four receptions for 34 yards and a touchdown. His first score was on an 11-yard toss where he showed great patience, his second was on an out route where he basically walked in for 16 yards, and the third was on a goal-line carry at the end of the first half. Mark Ingram received ten touches in the game compared to Kamara's 23. Through eight games, the second-year running back is on pace for 222 carries, 980 rushing yards, 18 rushing touchdowns, 102 receptions, 854 receiving yards, and six receiving touchdowns. He'll likely make a push for a 1,000/1,000 season in the second half.
Alvin Kamara scores twice as Saints win playoff rematch over the Vikings, 30-20.
Kamara rushed 13 times for 45 yards and a touchdown, also adding seven receptions for 31 yards and another score. The scoring got started with a three-yard pass to Kamara on the game's opening drive, and he closed out the first half with a one-yard run up the middle. The reining Offensive Rookie of the Year has averaged a mortal 4.4 yards per carry through seven games, but he already has nine touchdowns, and Kamara is an easy RB1 option for a potential shootout next Sunday against the undefeated Rams.
Alvin Kamara handles 19 touches in win over the Ravens.
Kamara rushed 17 times for 64 yards and a touchdown, also adding two receptions for 11 yards. It was an encouraging performance against arguably the best defense in the league after being outshined by Mark Ingram in his season debut, but fantasy owners should have never lost faith in Kamara after one sub-par game. The second-year superstar is obviously a must-start RB1 for a playoff rematch with the Vikings next week on Sunday Night Football.
Alvin Kamara gets nine offensive touches against the Redskins.
Kamara carried six times for 24 yards and added three receptions (on four targets) for 15 yards in the Monday night victory. Returning from his four-game suspension, Mark Ingram received 16 carries and 18 touches total—with two goal line scores—in the win, which was probably disappointing for Kamara owners. However, there certainly isn't any reason to panic, and Kamara has elite RB1 upside very week even with Ingram back in the mix.
Alvin Kamara goes for career-high rushing in Saints' win.
In the last game of Mark Ingram's four-game suspension, the Saints gave Kamara 19 carries against the Giants, which he turned into 134 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns—including a 49-yard score to put New Orleans up two possessions late in the fourth quarter. Kamara also had four receptions for 57 receiving yards in the win. Through four games, Kamara is on pace for 224 carries, 1,100 rushing yards, 20 rushing touchdowns, 140 receptions, 1,344 receiving yards, and four receiving touchdowns. He's simply an ultra-dynamic player that has a great shot at a 1,000/1,000 season. Ingram's return doesn't have a huge impact on Kamara's fantasy value aside from at the goal line.
Alvin Kamara handles 31 touches in win over the Falcons.
Kamara rushed 16 times for 66 yards and caught 15 passes for 124 yards in the 43-37 overtime victory. There were reports before the game that New Orleans wanted to lighten up the workload for Kamara, but that obviously didn't happen in what turned out to easily be the most touches of his young career. The 2017 Offensive Rookie of the Year will probably be spelled more next week against the Giants in the final game before Mark Ingram returns from suspension, but he is a top-tier option in all formats and arguably the top overall play in PPR leagues.
Alvin Kamara totals 99 yards in Saints' win.
Kamara had 13 carries for 46 rushing yards and six receptions (on six targets) for 53 receiving yards in the Week 2 win. Mike Gillislee had eight carries in the game, so the Saints have been holding firm on their promise not to give Kamara a huge workload on the ground with Mark Ingram suspended. In Week 3, Kamara faces a Falcons team that doesn't have Deion Jones, so he remains among the top running back options.
Alvin Kamara totals three touchdowns in Week 1 loss.
Kamara picked up right where he left off last season, as the second-year back carried eight times for 29 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns along with nine receptions for 112 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown. Kamara also had a two-point conversion in the fourth quarter. Mike Gillislee received three carries behind Kamara, but one was a fumble that was returned for a touchdown. Don't be surprised if the Saints give him the ball 15-20 times on the ground if they run the ball more in Week 2 against the Browns. Either way, Kamara obviously must stay in fantasy lineups as an RB1.
Alvin Kamara isn't expected to get more carries during Mark Ingram's four-game suspension.
Saints head coach Sean Payton spoke at the team's rookie minicamp today and was asked questions about Ingram's suspension and how it would effect the team. "The mistake would be that Alvin gets 15 more carries and that's not the direction we would like to go," Payton said. Saints running backs coach Joel Thomas also added that it would be a "disservice" to give Kamara more work because "he's excelled with the ratio he's had." Right now, New Orleans sounds content with having other guys step up during Ingram's absence while keeping Kamara's role about the same as it was last season. Things could change when the games begin and the team is trying to win, but perhaps Kamara won't be getting 15-20+ carries in Weeks 1-4. Remember, Kamara didn't have more than 12 carries in a game during his rookie season despite putting up big numbers.
Alvin Kamara scores in Saints' playoff loss.
Kamara had an excellent game considering he was facing the league's best defense, as he was effective both on the ground and through the air as a receiver. The rookie running back had 11 carries for 43 rushing yards and added four receptions for 62 receiving touchdowns and one receiving touchdown, with the score coming on a great catch in the end zone in tight coverage from Vikings linebacker Eric Kendricks after wheel route from the backfield. And it could've been a bigger game if not for a missed throw by Willie Snead on a trick play that got Kamara wide open down the field for a big gain or potential touchdown. While he was very much a big part of the offense as a rookie, the Saints might get Kamara more work in his second season. Kamara is likely to end up a first-round selection in most fantasy drafts, and he certainly does offer elite upside each week.
Alvin Kamara scores in Wild Card win over the Panthers.
Kamara rushed 10 times for 23 yards and a touchdown, also adding a 10-yard reception. Carolina did an excellent job against the elite running back duo for New Orleans, but the Saints were able to get a thrilling 31-26 victory. Kamara gets another tough matchup next Sunday in Minnesota, but he could break the game open at any point as his team looks to advance to the NFC Championship.
Alvin Kamara does it all in Week 17 loss.
Kamara rushed nine times for 44 yards and a touchdown, adding six receptions for 84 yards. He also housed a kickoff return for a 106-yard touchdown. However, it wasn't enough to avoid an upset in Tampa Bay, but at least the Saints were able to still win the NFC South. The possible Rookie of the Year finishes the regular season with 120 carries for 728 yards (6.1 yards per carry) and eight touchdowns, also adding an 81/826/5 receiving line. Kamara will probably make a bunch of plays in the postseason, and that starts next Sunday against the Panthers.
Alvin Kamara handles 19 touches in Week 16 win.
Kamara rushed 12 times for 32 yards and caught seven passes for 58 yards. The rookie back missed almost all of the first matchup with Atlanta (a loss), but his mere presence on Sunday helped the Saints clinch a playoff berth. Kamara should be an elite RB1 in PPR leagues and a solid RB1 in standard leagues for the regular-season finale against Tampa Bay.
Alvin Kamara totals 89 yards and a touchdown in win over the Jets.
Kamara rushed 12 times for 44 yards and caught six passes for 45 yards, including a 10-yard touchdown. Outside of the touchdown reception, New York did a nice job gang tackling the rookie, but he still came away with a really good fantasy day. Kamara will likely be the focal point of the offense on Christmas Eve against the Falcons, as he was featured on the first drive of their first meeting before leaving with a concussion. He might be the top play in PPR leagues for Week 16.
Alvin Kamara (concussion) was a full participant in practice today.
Kamara told reporters he'll be out there on Sunday against the Jets, and it appears he's cleared concussion protocol and will in fact be in the lineup. It's good to hear Kamara is feeling better after the concussion suffered last Thursday night. The dynamic rookie running back obviously needs to be in all fantasy lineups with fantasy championship berths on the line in many leagues.
Alvin Kamara (concussion) is out for the remainder of tonight's game.
This isn't a surprise, as Kamara was out for the entire rest of the first half after taking the hit in the first series of the game. Before leaving, the star rookie had one carry for two yards and three receptions for 25 yards in the one drive, and it looked like he was going to be heavily involved in the offense again. Mark Ingram will handle most of the backfield work with his teammate out of the game, and Kamara will have about ten days to get ready for Week 15 against the Jets.
Alvin Kamara is being looked at for a possible concussion.
Kamara took a big hit from Falcons linebacker Deion Jones at the end of the first drive of the game, and he immediately went off the field and is being looked at by trainers. Hopefully Kamara is fine and able to just re-enter the game on the next drive, but it's possible his night could be over already if he does indeed enter concussion protocol. We'll update you as more information becomes available.
Rookie of the Year? Alvin Kamara dominates in win over the Panthers.
Kamara rushed nine times for 60 yards and two touchdowns, adding five receptions for 66 yards through the air. The third-round pick has shown impeccable balance and strength for his size this season, and he will be an RB1 over the final four weeks of the season. In PPR leagues, there's a case to be made for Kamara as the top option for the fantasy playoffs. The Saints take on the Falcons this Thursday night.
Alvin Kamara keeps up amazing rookie campaign with 188 total yards.
Kamara rushed five times for 87 yards, including a 74-yard touchdown run in the first quarter, and he added six receptions for 101 yards and another score in the loss. A third-round pick out of Tennessee, Kamara is probably even more than head coach Sean Payton anticipated when they targeted him earlier in the year. He is an every-week RB1/RB2 over the final five games of the year, but it could be more on the RB2 side with a difficult matchup against Luke Kuechly and the Panthers next Sunday.
Alvin Kamara comes up clutch in Week 11.
Kamara received 14 touches in a win over the Redskins, carrying eight times for 42 yards and adding six receptions (on nine targets) for 74 yards and a touchdown, along with a two-point conversion. The touchdown was an 18-yarder on a pass that he bobbled before gaining control and quickly slicing through a couple of poor tackling attempts with a minute to go in regulation, then he took a toss into the end zone to tie the game with the two-point conversion. The rookie running back continues to be extremely impressive in his first NFL season, and he is an excellent option in both standard and PPR leagues every week.
Alvin Kamara gets 17 touches against the Bills.
Buffalo's defense continued to struggle defending the run, and the Saints ran wild for nearly 300 yards and six touchdowns in the game. Kamara carried 12 times for 106 yards and a touchdown while also adding five receptions (on five targets) for 32 yards. As long as he and the Saints are rolling like this, the dynamic rookie remains an awesome RB2/FLEX option in standard leagues and an RB1 in PPR leagues.
Alvin Kamara dominates in Week 9 win.
Kamara rushed 10 times for 68 yards and a touchdown, also adding six receptions for a team-high 84 yards and another score. The rushing touchdown came from six yards out in the third quarter, but the better play was the 33-yard catch-and-run in the second quarter where he somehow stayed up and the poor tackling Bucs watched him run into the end zone. Kamara needs to be in lineups every week as a solid RB2 in standard leagues and RB1/RB2 option in PPR leagues.
Alvin Kamara gets 11 touches, scores in Saints' win.
The rookie from Tennessee continues to impress, as he zoomed for a touchdown on a toss for eight yards. Overall, he had eight carries for 28 yards and added three receptions (on three targets) for 48 yards. Kamara will continue to be a very good FLEX option in Week 9, and he'll be a solid RB2 in FLEX leagues next week against Tampa Bay.
Alvin Kamara totals 107 yards in Week 7 win.
Kamara rushed nine times for 57 yards and caught five passes for 50 yards. The rookie has been great as a change-of-pace to Mark Ingram over the past couple weeks. He is a good FLEX option in standard leagues and needs to be in lineups as an RB2 in PPR leagues. The Saints take on the Bears next week.
Alvin Kamara gets 14 touches in Week 6.
The first game without Adrian Peterson seemed to lead to a smoother backfield rotation for New Orleans, as Mark Ingram and Kamara both did damage against the Lions. The rookie carries ten times for 75 yards while adding four receptions (on four targets) for 12 yards. Kamara should continue getting enough touches to be a FLEX option in standard leagues and a RB2 option in PPR leagues. He gets the Packers in Lambeau in Week 7.
Alvin Kamara racks up ten receptions in Week 4.
The rookie running back was used as a big weapon by Sean Payton and Drew Brees, as he caught all ten targets against the Dolphins, gaining 71 yards with a touchdown. He also had five carries for 25 yards. Kamara's touchdown was on a 16-yard shuffle pass to basically seal the game for the Saints in the fourth quarter. New Orleans has a bye next week, but Kamara—who is being used all over the field—looks like he should be in all fantasy lineups in PPR leagues moving forward.
Alvin Kamara scores 25-yard touchdown in Week 3 win over Carolina.
Kamara rushed twice for 37 yards and caught three passes for five yards in the 34-13 victory. He was out-touched by both Mark Ingram (16) and Adrian Peterson (11), but the rookie made the biggest plays on Sunday. Still, he isn't going to be a reliable fantasy option for as long as Ingram and Peterson are healthy, so he's just a desperation FLEX play for Week 4 against Miami (in London).
Alvin Kamara gets four touches in Week 2 loss.
Kamara rushed once for three yards and caught three passes for 51 yards. There was talk the rookie would get even more work this week, and even with New England jumping out to a 21-3 lead, it didn't happen. Sharing the backfield with Mark Ingram and Adrian Peterson, Kamara is a risky, low-floor FLEX option against the Panthers in Week 3.
Alvin Kamara gets 11 touches in first NFL regular season game.
The rookie running back split work evenly with Mark Ingram and Adrian Peterson, carrying seven times for 18 yards and catching four passes for 20 yards. Kamara's seven carries were actually the most on the team, which bodes well for his outlook as a rookie. It's clear the Saints and Sean Payton, who's compared Kamara to Marshall Faulk, believe the rookie is too good not to put on the field. He'll have some good weeks this season.
Alvin Kamara breaks 50-yard touchdown in Week 2 of the preseason.
The rookie running back from Tennessee scored on New Orleans' first offensive play of the game, showing great vision and breaking through to the second level of the defense before shedding one tackle and going off to the races. Kamara ended the game with five carries for 61 yards and one reception for 22 yards. The Saints are pretty well off at the running back position with Adrian Peterson, Mark Ingram, and Kamara. In year one, Kamara will likely only be usable in PPR leagues, but it's possible he delivers value in standard as well.
Alvin Kamara got the start in Thursday night's preseason opener.
The Saints rested both Mark Ingram and Adrian Peterson, so Kamara was able to play with the first-team offense, though they didn't have Drew Brees, either. The rookie looked good, rushing four times for 35 yards, including a 22-yard rush. While he will struggle to have consistent fantasy value in 2017, Sean Payton will find ways to get his versatile back on the field.
Alvin Kamara has looked "fast and fluid" through two padded practices, according to Mike Triplett of ESPN.
Triplett says Kamara's role might be limited with Adrian Peterson and Mark Ingram in a crowded backfield, but he believes Kamara "should challenge" Travaris Cadet for a role in empty backfield sets. Head coach Sean Payton was asked if there are any comparisons between Kamara and Marshall Faulk (who is at Saints' camp working for NFL Network), and Payton said there are "some traits" Kamara has that remind him of Faulk, naming intelligence and route-running ability. Payton did also say Faulk was "as good as there ever was" at that. The rookie has a long way to go, but there's reason to be optimistic about him. Kamara could be a PPR asset this year.
The Saints trade up to select Tennessee running back Alvin Kamara with the 67th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft.
New Orleans traded a 2018 second round pick for this third round pick to select Kamara, so they must really like him. Kamara might not have had the production on the ground that teams would like to see during his college career, but he is a guy that stood out during games. While he didn’t crack 700 yards rushing in his two seasons at Tennessee, Kamara averaged 6.2 yards per carry, along with 16 rushing touchdowns. during his career. Kamara also excelled as a receiver, catching 34 and 40 passes in his two seasons. Sean Payton is going to utilize his great receiving ability. Despite the presence of Mark Ingram and Adrian Peterson, Kamara could have some 2017 fantasy value, particularly in PPR leagues. The Saints have a scary good backfield.
