Austin Hooper has a nice game in Week 2 victory.
Hooper caught five passes for 59 yards, including an eight-yard score in the second quarter. It was a tough matchup for Hooper, but he took advantage of an early look in the red zone to help Atlanta to a 31-24 win. The third-year tight end has struggled against the Saints in three career matchups, so it might be best to look elsewhere for streamers in Week 3.
Austin Hooper catches three passes in Week 1.
Hooper gained 24 yards on his three receptions against the Eagles, including a long of 15 yards. The third-year tight end appeared to injure his knee in the game, but he seemed to be fine and returned to action. Hooper is in TE2 consideration for Week 2 against the Panthers.
The Austin Hooper hype continues.
Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan and others have already spoken about how good the third-year tight end looks this year, and now Falcons head coach Dan Quinn is adding more praise, telling NBC Sports' Peter King that Hooper has "been like a dog this offseason—over and over, he'd catch everything Matt threw and bring it back." Again, it might be hard for Hooper to put up big numbers with so many other weapons on Atlanta's offense, but the 2016 third-round pick stepping up will make what should be one of the league's best attacks even more difficult to stop. Hooper's emergence is a good sign for Matt Ryan's outlook this season.
Matt Ryan thinks Austin Hooper should have a really good year.
Matty Ice says the third-year tight end has "gotten a lot better" and is "a lot more polished" this year, and Matthew Tabeek of AtlantaFalcons.com has been saying Hooper is performing well in camp and could be primed for a big season. With so many weapons on Atlanta's offense, and Hooper unlikely to be any higher than the fifth option, a huge breakout season with big numbers is going to be difficult. But a backend TE1 option is certainly possible, and Hooper could be one of the better real-life contributors at tight end in the league this season.
Matthew Tabeek of AtlantaFalcons.com believes the "arrow is pointing up" for Austin Hooper.
Tabeek, who covers the team closely, has been high on the third-year tight end all offseason, and he expects him to get better this season. With Levine Toilolo no longer in Atlanta, it could mean a slightly bigger role for Hooper this season, though the team did add first-round receiver Calvin Ridley to the offense. Tabeek says he expects Hooper, who has three touchdowns in each of his first three seasons, will be a bigger weapon in the red zone this season. Ultimately, it might be difficult to be a consistent fantasy option with so many weapons on offense, but the former third-round pick Hooper is someone to keep an eye on as someone that's likely to be on most waiver wires to start the season.
Austin Hooper catches one pass in playoff loss.
Hooper gained three yards on his lone reception. The 2016 third-round pick will look to have a breakout year in his third season, but he doesn't look like a recommended TE1 option yet.
Austin Hooper comes up big in win over the Rams.
Hooper caught three passes for 15 yards, but one was a huge third-down conversion in the fourth quarter. Atlanta's tight end will look to make some more plays next Saturday against the top-seeded Eagles in Philadelphia.
Austin Hooper caught three passes for 35 yards in Sunday's win over the Panthers.
Hooper's biggest impact came on a 24-yard gain. The second-year tight end didn't have the breakout some might have expected after a huge season opener, as he finished with 49 receptions for 526 yards and three touchdowns in 16 games (eight starts). Hooper will look to emerge in the postseason for the six-seeded Falcons. They face the Rams next Saturday night.
Austin Hooper has quiet game in win over the Bucs.
Hooper caught two passes for 12 yards. The second-year tight end is simply a low-upside target over the middle for Matt Ryan. He should be on the waiver wire for the fantasy championship.
Austin Hooper catches two passes in Week 14.
Hooper gained 23 yards on his two receptions, but he unfortunately had a pass go off his hands and into Saints linebacker Chris Banjo's arms for an interception. Matt Ryan wasn't happy about it, but it shouldn't affect Hooper's role. Either way, he's not a highly-reccomended fantasy option at the moment.
Austin Hooper caught three passes for 21 yards in Sunday's loss to Minnesota.
Hooper has still yet to surpass 50 yards since the season opener, so there are better options in the fantasy playoffs. The Falcons play the Saints on Thursday night.
Austin Hooper caught three passes for 38 yards in Sunday's win over Tampa Bay.
Hooper was a lot better than last week's two-catch, negative-one-yard performance, but it was basically all Julio Jones and Tevin Coleman for the Atlanta offense. Hooper is just a TE2 option against Minnesota next Sunday.
Austin Hooper catches two passes in Week 11.
Hooper's two receptions went for a combined -1 yards, as the Seahawks did a great job of defending the couple of passes that went to him in the flat. The second-year tight end is a TE2 option.
Austin Hooper scores in Week 10 win.
Hooper caught six passes for 49 yards, including a one-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter to put Atlanta up 24-7. The second-year tight end now has at least 47 yards in four of his past six games, and he's scored in two out of three. Still, he's no better than a low-floor TE1 against Seattle in Week 11.
Austin Hooper gets six targets in Week 9.
Hooper caught three passes for 36 yards against the Panthers, and a deep throw intended for him was intercepted. The second-year tight end is currently on pace for 50 receptions, 662 yards, and four touchdowns this season, so he's making clear progress from his rookie season. He gets the Cowboys next week.
Austin Hooper scores in Week 8 win.
Hooper caught four passes for 47 yards and a touchdown, which was a one-yard reception in the first quarter of a 25-20 win. The score was Hooper's first since the season opener, and he's still yet to top 50 yards since then. The second-year player is just a TE2 option heading into a matchup with the Panthers next Sunday.
Austin Hooper held to one reception in Week 7 loss.
It went for six yards. Hooper isn't a fantasy option with the Falcons offense struggling. They'll try to turn things around against the Jets next Sunday.
Austin Hooper gets nine targets against the Dolphins.
His nine targets were a team high, and he caught seven of them for 48 yards. Matt Ryan targeted Hooper deep down the middle on a potential go-ahead touchdown drive, but the pass was deflected and intercepted, sealing the win for Miami. Hooper won't be a bad option in a likely high-scoring game next Sunday night versus New England. He scored in the Super Bowl against the Patriots last season.
Austin Hooper caught five passes for 50 yards in Sunday's loss to the Bills.
Hooper saw an increased role with Julio Jones and Mohamed leaving the game with injuries, and he led the team in catches and trailed only Tevin Coleman in yards. Atlanta has a bye in Week 5, but those needing help at tight end might be wise to look ahead to Week 6 against Miami (a great matchup for the position), especially if Jones and Sanu aren't able to play.
Austin Hooper held to one catch in Week 3 win.
It went for nine yards. Hooper now has two-straight quiet games after getting open for two long gains against busted coverage in the season opener. He's not a good fantasy option against Buffalo next week.
Austin Hooper held in check after Week 1 blowup.
Hooper caught two passes for seven yards in the win against the Packers. Hopefully fantasy owners weren't playing him based on two busted coverages for big gains in the season opener, as Green Bay just held Jimmy Graham in check and Hooper is probably the sixth option on Atlanta's offense. There will be good games, but there are more reliable fantasy tight ends to start. The Falcons play Detroit next.
Austin Hooper catches long touchdown in Week 1.
The second-year tight end extended the Falcons' lead in the fourth quarter when he was wide open down the middle and ran for an 88-yard touchdown. On the run, he stiff armed Bears safety Quintin Demps to finish the play and get in the end zone. Hooper also had a 40-yard reception, so it was quite the day for him. He had two receptions (on two targets) for 128 yards and the touchdown against the Bears. The former Stanford Cardinal was seen as a potential breakout pick this season, and this was a great start to that. Atlanta plays Green Bay in Week 2 on Sunday Night Football.
Austin Hooper catches both targets in preseason game against the Steelers.
Hooper had 24 yards on his two receptions in the Week 2 preseason game. His best play was on a third-down conversion where Matt Ryan stepped up in the pocket and found Hooper to keep the drive going. Hooper is a good bet to increase his 19 catch total he had last season as a rookie.
Austin Hooper had one reception for 12 yards against Miami in Atlanta's first preseason game.
Atlanta's projected starting tight end has some breakout potential as he enters his second season. He certainly showed flashes in 2016 as a member of the number one Falcons offense.
Rookie Austin Hooper scores in Super Bowl.
Hooper had three receptions for 32 yards and a touchdown. The touchdown was on a perfectly dropped in pass from Matt Ryan in the endzone. Hooper will look to take on a bigger role in his second season. He might be a good sleeper pick very late in 2017 drafts.
Austin Hooper catches both targets in NFC Championship.
Hooper had two reception for 23 yards. The rookie will now be playing in the Super Bowl in his first season.
Austin Hooper catches nine-yard touchdown against the 49ers.
It was Hooper's only catch of the game, and he isn't a reliable fantasy option in his rookie year.
Austin Hooper catches one pass for five yards against the Rams.
He should be on the waiver wire.
Austin Hooper has another quiet day in Week 12.
Hooper caught two passes for eight yards. It was against an Arizona team that does not allow production to tight ends, but Hooper isn't a big part of Atlanta's offense; he can stay on waivers.
Hooper limited to one catch in Falcons' loss.
It went for eight yards. The rookie had a tough matchup with Philly's defense, and would have another in Week 12 if Jacob Tamme remains out. He can stay on the waiver wire.
