Connor Cook | Panthers QB

The Panthers signed Connor Cook to the practice squad.

The third-year quarterback from Michigan State was released by Oakland ahead of 53-man-roster cuts. He'll look to develop on the practice squad, and he's in a good spot with Norv Turner as a coach.

The Raiders cut quarterback Connor Cook.

Cook didn't have a great preseason, and Jon Gruden wasn't happy about it, so the Raiders acquired A.J. McCarron in a trade. The former Michigan State star might end up on Oakland's practice squad.

Connor Cook | Panthers QB

Connor Cook was 9/15 for 83 yards and one touchdown in last night's preseason loss.

Cook was the third quarterback in the game behind Derek Carr and E.J. Manuel, but it was a good night for him as Manuel struggled (3/9, 16 yards). The 24-year-old might not play next week against Dallas in the regular season dress rehearsal.

Connor Cook | Panthers QB

Connor Cook completes under 50% of his passes in Week 1 of the preseason.

The second-year Raiders quarterback, who entered the game after E.J. Manuel, couldn't get much going against the Cardinals. He was 10/21 for 82 yards and made actually made a really nice tackle when the Cardinals recovered a fumble. Cook has potential, and hopefully the Raiders give him a good amount of playing time this preseason.

Oakland offense struggles; Raiders are eliminated from playoffs by Texans.

Connor Cook was 18/45 for 161 yards, one touchdown, and three interceptions. It wasn't an easy task for Cook to make his first career start against the number one defense (in terms of yards) in the NFL. Cook didn't get much help, as his receivers had a number of drops and didn't make many big plays for Cook. He looked a lot better than his stats indicated. Cook might enter next season as the Raiders' backup quarterback.

Connor Cook | Panthers QB

Connor Cook will start in the Wild Card Round against the Texans.

Head coach Jack Del Rio said that Cook will start and they'll try to get Matt McGloin healthy enough for a backup role. Cook did good for his first NFL action last week, and he will now be the first quarterback to make his first career start in the playoffs. Cook went in the fourth round of last year's draft, but many people thought he could or should have went a lot higher, including Jon Gruden.

Connor Cook | Panthers QB

Connor Cook replaces injured Matt McGloin in Raiders' loss to Denver.

Cook was 14/21 for 150 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in his first NFL action. Cook had more success moving the offense than Matt McGloin did, but the veteran will probably start in the playoffs if he is healthy enough to. Both are significant downgrades from Derek Carr, and Oakland will have to rely on the running game if they want to make a run.
