Kyle Rudolph | Vikings TE

Kyle Rudolph is signing a contract extension with the Vikings.

Rudolph made an announcement that didn't officially announce an extension, but the Pro Bowl tight end is reportedly going to sign one tomorrow. When Minnesota drafted Alabama tight end Irv Smith Jr. in the second round of this year's draft, many assumed Rudolph's time with the Vikings would end after this season (the final year of his contract). Instead, Rudolph is set to continue his Vikings career long-term while working in tandem with Smith Jr., so we expect the Vikings will utilize a lot of two-tight-end sets and run the ball a lot with Dalvin Cook and company in 2019 and beyond. Fantasy wise, Rudolph is the preferred redraft option of the two primary Vikings tight ends this season.

Kyle Rudolph | Vikings TE

Kyle Rudolph caught four passes for 19 yards in Sunday's loss to the Bears.

Rudolph exploded in Week 16, but the success didn't carry over to the season finale. Minnesota's tight end finishes his age-28/29 season with 64 receptions for 634 yards and four touchdowns, and the team will have a decision to make since they can get out of Rudolph's contract with no cap hit. If he stays with the Vikings, Rudolph won't be anything more than a low-end TE1 option.

Kyle Rudolph | Vikings TE

Kyle Rudolph breaks out with 9/122/2 line in Week 16 win.

Rudolph, who hadn't scored since September, caught a Hail Mary pass at the end of the first half from 44 yards away, and later found the end zone again on a four-yard touchdown reception. Unfortunately, not many people were using Rudolph at this point, but those who took the gamble in the fantasy championship were handsomely rewarded. The veteran will look to help the Vikings into the postseason next week when the Bears come to town, but he's probably still just a TE2.

Kyle Rudolph | Vikings TE

Kyle Rudolph catches three passes in Week 15.

Rudolph gained 23 yards on his three receptions in the Vikings' win over the Dolphins. Tyler Conklin (two receptions, 53 yards) did most of the damage in a good matchup for Minnesota's tight ends. Rudolph hasn't had a highly productive season statistically, but it'd be fitting if he score a couple days before Christmas next weekend, given his name.

Kyle Rudolph | Vikings TE

Kyle Rudolph catches two passes in Vikings' loss.

Rudolph gained seven yards on his two receptions against the Seahawks. He was targeted in the end zone on a fourth-down attempt where he might have been able to come down with it if Kirk Cousins put the throw up near the goal post where Rudolph could use his big frame and catch radius to go get it, but the throw was so off-target that he didn't really have a chance to catch it. Rudolph is difficult to trust in fantasy lineups in the playoffs, but next week against a Dolphins team that was just shredded by Rob Gronkowski isn't a bad matchup.

Kyle Rudolph | Vikings TE

Kyle Rudolph catches all three targets in Week 13.

Rudolph gained 38 yards on his three receptions against the Patriots, including a 23-yard reception where he did a nice job of high-pointing the ball on a dime from Kirk Cousins. Rudolph might need a touchdown to deliver fantasy value in Week 14 against Seattle, and he hasn't scored since Week 3.

Kyle Rudolph | Vikings TE

Kyle Rudolph catches seven passes in Vikings’ win.

Rudolph was a very reliable target for Kirk Cousins throughout the night, catching all seven of his targets for 63 yards. This was Rudolph’s highest receiving total since Week 2 (also against the Packers), so he hasn’t been a great fantasy option in an offense running through the wide receivers.

Kyle Rudolph | Vikings TE

Kyle Rudolph held in check as Vikings drop to 5-4-1.

Rudolph caught two-of-five targets for 13 yards and was the failed recipient of a two-point conversion attempt. With no scores since Week 3 and less than 40 yards in each of the past five games, Rudolph is probably just off the TE1 map for next Sunday night's matchup against the Packers; for what it's worth, he put up a 7/72 line in September's meeting.

Kyle Rudolph | Vikings TE

Kyle Rudolph catches both targets against the Lions.

Rudolph gained 28 yards on his two Week 9 receptions. He also appeared to have a touchdown on a fumble recovery in the end zone, but it was later deemed that Latavius Murray was across the goal line himself before losing the ball. Rudolph has standard fantasy point totals of 3, 1, 3, and 2 over the last four weeks, so he's difficult to trust in fantasy lineups right now. The Vikings have a Week 10 bye anyway, so you'll need to find another option for your TE spot.

Kyle Rudolph | Vikings TE

Kyle Rudolph caught four passes for 39 yards in Sunday's loss to the Saints.

Rudolph saw a healthy seven targets, but he was out of bounds on a would-be touchdown, and Kirk Cousins overshot him on another red-zone target. The 28-year-old is on pace for a respectable 64/642/4 line, but he needs to be a bigger factor in scoring territory to reach his fantasy potential in 2018. The Vikings stay home to face the Lions next Sunday.

Kyle Rudolph | Vikings TE

Kyle Rudolph catches one pass in Week 7.

Rudolph's lone reception against the Jets went for 16 yards. He was also targeted on a pass to the back of the end zone but couldn't come up with it. This was Rudolph's first game since Week 1 without at least four receptions, so he'll look to get on track next week against the Saints. Rudolph had eight receptions for 54 yards and a touchdown in two combined matchups (including playoffs) against New Orleans last season.

Kyle Rudolph | Vikings TE

Kyle Rudolph hauls in four-of-four targets in win over the Cardinals.

Rudolph turned his four receptions into 37 yards. The veteran tight end has proven to be a consistent TE1 with Kirk Cousins under center, and he should stay in lineups next Sunday for a matchup with the Jets as he looks for his first touchdown since Week 3.

Kyle Rudolph | Vikings TE

Kyle Rudolph catches all five targets in Week 5.

Rudolph was a reliable underneath option against the Eagles, as he gained 41 yards on his five receptions. The Pro Bowl tight end doesn't have a ton of upside with Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs doing most of the damage for the Vikings, but he remains a solid TE1 option.

Kyle Rudolph | Vikings TE

Kyle Rudolph catches five passes in Week 4.

Rudolph was targeted six times against the Rams, gaining 57 yards on his five receptions. After just one catch in Week 1, Rudolph has at least five receptions and 48 yards in the last three games. His 16-game pace at the quarter-mark is 72 receptions for 752 yards and eight touchdowns, which is right around his career-best 2016 season.

Kyle Rudolph | Vikings TE

Kyle Rudolph scores in loss to the Bills.

Rudolph caught five passes for 48 yards, including a four-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter for Minnesota's only points of the game. The veteran has gotten off to a solid start with a touchdown or 70 yards in each of his first three games, and he has a tremendous matchup in Week 4 against the Rams and their attackable cover linebackers.

Kyle Rudolph | Vikings TE

Kyle Rudolph catches seven passes for 72 yards in Sunday's tie against the Packers.

Rudolph was held to one reception in the opener, but he was able to bounce back as a solid short-to-intermediate target for Kirk Cousins on Sunday. The veteran tight end will look to keep it going against the Bills as a solid TE1 option in Week 3.

Kyle Rudolph | Vikings TE

Kyle Rudolph scores in Week 1.

Rudolph was quiet all game against the Niners, but he broke open in the back of the end zone for an 11-yard touchdown in the third quarter. The score was Rudolph's only catch of the game. He should be more involved overall against the Packers in Week 2.

Kyle Rudolph | Vikings TE

Kyle Rudolph scores in NFC Championship loss.

It was a 25-yard touchdown on the game's opening possession and his only catch of the game. It also happened to be the only points for Minnesota in a 38-7 blowout. Rudolph should be back next season with the Vikings, and he will be a quality TE1 option no matter who is throwing passes.

Kyle Rudolph | Vikings TE

Kyle Rudolph caught five passes for 28 yards in Sunday's playoff victory.

Rudolph was a reliable target underneath for the Vikings in a 29-24 win that came down to the last play of the game. The veteran tight end will look to find the end zone and make some plays next Sunday against Philadelphia in the NFC Championship Game.

Kyle Rudolph | Vikings TE

Kyle Rudolph catches one pass in Week 17.

Rudolph gained three yards on his lone reception, and he could still be dealing with his ankle injury that he suffered a few weeks ago. The Pro Bowl tight end had a 57/532/8 line this season, and now he'll look to make some plays and put the ball in the end zone in the playoffs.

Kyle Rudolph | Vikings TE

Kyle Rudolph catches one pass in Week 16.

Rudolph caught an out-breaking route for six yards against the Packers. He's still probably not at 100% while dealing with his ankle injury and did not appear to play his normal slate of snaps, so Rudolph carries some risk in fantasy lineups next week against the Bears.

Kyle Rudolph | Vikings TE

Kyle Rudolph scores in Week 15 win.

Rudolph was doubtful and then upgraded to questionable against Cincinnati, and fantasy owners that rolled with him were rewarded with a one-yard score in the fourth quarter. Rudolph should be healthier for a matchup with Green Bay on Saturday night, and he's a definite TE1 after Carolina's Greg Olsen just broke out against them.

Kyle Rudolph | Vikings TE

Kyle Rudolph (ankle) is active against the Bengals.

It’s been quite the turnaround for Rudolph, who was initially said to be out by head coach Mike Zimmer before being listed as doubtful then upgraded to questionable—and now he’s in the lineup. Rudolph must be feeling pretty good despite not practicing all week, and he’s worth TE1 consideration. Though he does have some downside at less than 100%.

Kyle Rudolph | Vikings TE

Kyle Rudolph (ankle) has been upgraded to questionable for tomorrow.

After Rudolph was initially said to be out yesterday, he was officially listed as doubtful on the injury report; but now he's being listed as questionable and looks to have a decent shot at playing tomorrow against the Bengals. Rudolph didn't practice all week, though, and might be at less than 100% if he plays. We'll know for sure by 11:30 AM ET time tomorrow, but if he is active Rudolph would carry some risk in fantasy lineups while dealing with the ankle issue.

Kyle Rudolph | Vikings TE

UPDATE: Kyle Rudolph is listed as doubtful for Week 15.

Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer said Rudolph won't play this week, but the team left an opening for him to get ready to go on Sunday. Stranger things have happened, but Rudolph probably won't be suiting up this week for the Vikings. He wouldn't be a recommended fantasy option at less than 100% even if he does play.

Kyle Rudolph | Vikings TE

Kyle Rudolph (ankle) is officially out this week.

Rudolph didn’t practice all week, and the Pro Bowl tight end won't be out there on Sunday against the Bengals. This is a slight downgrade for Case Keenum, who had formed a nice connection with Rudolph over the last few weeks, and the Vikings overall. Hopefully Rudolph will be ready in a big matchup with the Packers next Saturday.

Kyle Rudolph | Vikings TE

Kyle Rudolph (ankle) misses second straight practice.

Rudolph's ankle injury isn't though to be severe, but we're already two practices in this week and he hasn't been out there. The big tight end getting in at least a limited practice tomorrow would be a good sign for his Week 15 status, but expect him to be listed as questionable either way when the injury report is released tomorrow.

Kyle Rudolph | Vikings TE

Kyle Rudolph (ankle) misses Wednesday's practice.

Rudolph reportedly left Sunday's game in a walking boot, which isn't a great sign, but it's unclear when he even suffered the injury against the Panthers. Despite the boot, there are no indications that Rudolph is expected to miss this week against the Bengals. We'll monitor his status throughout the week.

Kyle Rudolph | Vikings TE

Kyle Rudolph scores in Week 14 loss.

Rudolph caught three passes for 41 yards, including an 18-yard touchdown reception in the first quarter. He was mostly quiet outside of that, but he also had an impact when he uncharacteristically dropped a big gain on a seam route. Minnesota's tight end should catch everything he gets his hands on next week against Cincinnati, and he remains a solid TE1.

Kyle Rudolph | Vikings TE

Kyle Rudolph scores again in Week 13 win.

Rudolph caught four passes for 36 yards and a score, which turned out to be the game-winner from six yards out in the fourth quarter. The 28-year-old has now scored three times over the past two games, and he's put himself back on the TE1 map for the fantasy playoffs. That said, he will be in the low-end of the group when the Vikings head to Carolina next Sunday.

Kyle Rudolph | Vikings TE

Kyle Rudolph scores twice in Week 12.

This was Rudolph's best game of the season, as it was his first over 60 yards. He had four receptions (on four targets) for 63 yards and two touchdowns against the Lions, with the first score coming on a play-action fake at the goal line and the second score coming on a corner route for 34 yards on a dime from Case Keenum. Rudolph will remain a solid TE1 with a good floor in Week 12 against the Falcons.

Kyle Rudolph | Vikings TE

Kyle Rudolph caught five passes for 58 yards in Sunday's win over the Rams.

Rudolph make a couple nice grabs in coverage and now has at least five receptions in six-straight games. He's a low-end TE1 option in Week 12 with a boost in PPR leagues. The Lions held him to two receptions for 34 yards earlier this season.

Kyle Rudolph | Vikings TE

Kyle Rudolph gets seven targets in Week 10.

Rudolph caught five passes for 37 yards against the Redskins, with one pass intended for him in the flat going for a pick-six after it was jumped by safety D.J. Swearinger. This was a good matchup that Rudolph has historically had success in (he had a touchdown in each of his last three games against the Redskins), but he couldn't get much going despite the four touchdowns by Case Keenum in the game. He'll be a high-floor option against the Rams in Week 11.

Kyle Rudolph | Vikings TE

Kyle Rudolph catches a touchdown in Vikings’ London win.

Rudolph caught six of seven targets for 27 yards and a touchdown against the Browns. The big tight end was a reliable target for Case Keenum, with his only incomplete target coming on a back-shoulder throw down the sideline that he couldn’t quite bring in. And the touchdown was on a nice high-point catch in the back of the end zone as Rudolph came down and got both feet in bounds. When the vikings come out of their Week 9 bye, they face the Redskins, who have not been good against tight ends this season.

Kyle Rudolph | Vikings TE

Kyle Rudolph catches five passes against Baltimore.

Rudolph was targeted seven times in the win, gaining 43 yards on his five receptions. The former Pro Bowl tight end would get an upgrade with Sam Bradford under center, but he's still an excellent option in Week 8 against a Browns team that has been bad against opposing tight ends.

Kyle Rudolph | Vikings TE

Kyle Rudolph scores in Vikings' win.

The Vikings tight end caught six of a team-high nine targets for 45 yards and a touchdown against the Bears. He was mostly used as an underneath target in a quick-passing attack, but the touchdown was on a throw to the end zone from inside the ten-yard line where Rudolph caught a nicely-placed ball from Case Keenum. Rudolph gets the Packers in Week 6, but it looks like he'll be without Sam Bradford once again.

Kyle Rudolph | Vikings TE

Kyle Rudolph catches two passes in Week 4 loss.

Rudolph had 34 yards on his two receptions, and they both came late in the game. Through four games, Rudolph has only 40 receptions for 436 yards and four touchdowns, but he's been without Sam Bradford, who he has a great connection with, for the last three games. Also, Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen have been doing a lot of damage to opposing defenses, so it's likely defenses will start keying on them which could open things up for Rudolph. He gets the Bears next, and he had 11 receptions for 117 yards and a touchdown in their second meeting last season. Rudolph will be a solid TE1 if Bradford is in the lineup.

Kyle Rudolph | Vikings TE

Kyle Rudolph catches only one pass in Week 3.

Rudolph had a four-yard reception on one of his two targets in the game. The receivers and Dalvin Cook did most of the damage through the air against the Bucs, but Rudolph will try to bounce back next week against the Lions.

Kyle Rudolph | Vikings TE

Kyle Rudolph leads Vikings in receiving in Week 2.

Rudolph caught four of six targets for 45 yards against the Steelers. It's good to see him show a high floor even without Sam Bradford in the lineup. Obviously, his upside is higher with Bradford in there, so hopefully the quarterback is good to go for next Sunday against the Bucs.

Kyle Rudolph | Vikings TE

Kyle Rudolph scores in Week 1.

The Vikings tight end had three receptions for 26 yards and a touchdown against New Orleans. The touchdown came on a 15-yarder on an out-breaking route towards the pylon that Rudolph caught at the front of the end zone and was in for the score. If the offensive line is improved this season, it could mean more targets for the Vikings wide receivers—but Rudolph is still a solid TE1 either way.

Kyle Rudolph caught 11 passes for 117 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's win.

It was Rudolph's best game of the season, and the season was by far the best in his career. Rudolph finished with 83 catches for 840 yards and seven touchdowns. He could see similar production in 2017 with Sam Bradford expected back, and will be a solid TE1.

Kyle Rudolph | Vikings TE

Kyle Rudolph catches 6 passes in Vikings loss to Packers.

Rudolph continued to show chemistry with Sam Bradford and had six catches for 53 yards in a losing effort to the Packers. Expect similar production next week against the Chicago Bears to close out the season. He'll be a solid TE1.

Kyle Rudolph | Vikings TE

Kyle Rudolph has another good game in Vikings loss.

Rudolph had eight catches for 97 yards against the Colts. He's been among the best options at tight end this season, and that continued in Week 15. Rudolph gets the Packers next. It just wouldn't be right if Rudolph didn't have a big game on Christmas Eve.

Kyle Rudolph | Vikings TE

Kyle Rudolph catches game-sealing touchdown for the Vikings.

Rudolph caught a short touchdown to seal the game for the Vikings and put them up by 9. He had four catches for 60 yards and a touchdown against Jacksonville. Rudolph has been among the most consistent tight end options in fantasy, and is an obvious TE1.

Kyle Rudolph | Vikings TE

Kyle Rudolph commits crucial end zone drop in Vikings' loss.

Rudolph finished with six catches for 45 yards. He was targeted a team-high 12 times. Rudolph had a chance to bring down a perfectly thrown ball in between two defenders in the end zone, but it went right through his hands and Minnesota had to settle for a field goal. Fantasy owners can keep playing Rudolph as a solid TE1, but it's more because of the short passing offense the Vikings are forced to run than it is his talent.

Kyle Rudolph | Vikings TE

Kyle Rudolph catches nine passes in Vikings Week 12 loss.

Rudolph had nine receptions for 64 yards. He was a reliable target for Sam Bradford, and was used a lot by the Vikings including some quick semi-screen outs where he gets the ball in the flat and the receivers block. It looked like Rudolph might be able to turn up and get some huge gains, but he just isn't the most athletic tight end out there. Keep Rudolph in your lineup against the Cowboys next week.

Kyle Rudolph | Vikings TE

Kyle Rudolph doesn’t do much in tough matchup.

He had two catches for 12 yards against the Cardinals. He did have a touchdown called back in the game. This was expected in a matchup against Arizona. Rudolph will be back to a TE1 against the Lions on Thanksgiving. Get him in your lineup.

Kyle Rudolph | Vikings TE

Rudolph scores for second consecutive week.

He had five catches for 69 yards and a touchdown against Washington. Rudolph is up to five touchdowns on the season and has been a very reliable fantasy option at tight end. He has a high-floor as Sam Bradford's tight end. If you have other options, it might be best to keep him out of your lineup in Week 11, though. The Cardinals are #1 against tight ends in fantasy. We don't blame you if you want him in your lineup, however. He's a solid TE1.
