Spencer Ware | Free Agent RB

Spencer Ware catches one pass in Chiefs' playoff loss.

Ware gained 21 yards on his lone reception in the AFC Championship Game loss to the Patriots. It was a great diving reception on a key play in the fourth quarter, but the Patriots ultimately got the ball first in overtime and went right down the field for a game-winning score. Ware had missed the last four games with a hamstring issue, but Damien Williams dominated playing time tonight and remained the clear No. 1 running back for Kansas City. Williams looks poised to be the team's starter in 2019, but Ware might be able to make this more of a committee backfield considering his past success in the Chiefs offense. The 27-year-old is a free agent, but we'd think the Chiefs will try hard to keep him on the roster.

Spencer Ware | Free Agent RB

Spencer Ware does not carry an injury designation for the AFC Championship Game.

Ware (hamstring) was a full practice participant the last two days, and he's officially ready to face the Patriots with a Super Bowl trip on the line this Sunday. Damien Williams has been spectacular during Ware's absence, but Ware is going to get some work as a very capable runner with an all-around skill set, and it'll be nice to see him back on the field after missing the last four games. Ware's presence is a good boost for the Chiefs, who are very close to full health (linebacker Dorian O'Daniel is the only player not playing).

Spencer Ware | Free Agent RB

Spencer Ware (hamstring) was officially a full participant in today's practice.

Remember, Ware was a full participant toward the end of the regular season and still didn't play for Kansas City, so he's still not a lock to play in the AFC Championship Game. Still, this is a good step in the right direction for his Sunday status. We'll see how Ware is listed on the final injury report when it's released tomorrow.

Spencer Ware | Free Agent RB

Spencer Ware (hamstring) was officially limited in today's practice.

A full practice tomorrow or Friday would make us feel better about Ware's status for the AFC Championship Game against the Patriots, but he's probably headed for a questionable tag when the final injury report is released on Friday. Damien Williams has been playing exceptionally-well as the clear starter during Ware's absence, so Kansas City isn't going to rush Ware back.

Spencer Ware | Free Agent RB

Spencer Ware (hamstring) is officially inactive for today’s playoff game.

Ware was limited in practice all week, and his status remains relatively unknown with the Chiefs not revealing much about his status. He was a full practice participant toward the end of the regular season, so the limited participation this week indicates there might have been a setback at some point. Damien Williams will handle most of the backfield work versus the Colts, while Ware will hope to be ready for the AFC Championship Game if the Chiefs are able to advance.

Spencer Ware | Free Agent RB

Spencer Ware (hamstring) is officially listed as questionable for Saturday's playoff game.

Ware, like teammate Sammy Watkins, who is also listed as questionable, was a limited participant in practice all week. He looks like a true game-time call despite looking like a lock to be ready for the postseason after he was practicing fully at the end of the regular season. If Ware remains out, Damien Williams will handle most of the touches for the Chiefs against the Colts.

Spencer Ware | Free Agent RB

Spencer Ware (hamstring) was officially limited in today's practice.

Ware is said to be making progress from his hamstring injury, so it's a slight surprise that he's been a limited practice each of the last two days after he was a full participant a couple of weeks ago. Ware will likely be listed as questionable when the final Divisional Round injury report is released sometime tomorrow.

Spencer Ware | Free Agent RB

Spencer Ware (hamstring) was officially a limited participant in today's practice.

Ware was a full practice participant to end the regular season, so this is a slight surprise; but perhaps the Chiefs are just taking it easy with Ware to start the week. Ideally, he'll get up to a full practice tomorrow.

Spencer Ware | Free Agent RB

Spencer Ware (hamstring) is officially inactive for Week 17.

Ware practiced fully all week, but the Chiefs want to make sure he's ready to go for the postseason. Damien Williams will handle most of the backfield work against the Raiders, and he'll be an obvious RB1 option with fantasy titles on the line. Ware's regular season ends with 51 carries for 246 yards and two touchdowns along with 20 receptions for 224 yards. He probably helped people in the first round of the fantasy playoffs, but he's missed the final three games of the year. It'll be interesting to see how the running back workload is split in the postseason, assuming Ware is ready to go.

Spencer Ware | Free Agent RB

Spencer Ware (hamstring) is officially listed as questionable for Week 17.

Ware practiced fully all week, but the Chiefs might not want to rush things if Ware isn't at 100% full strength with the playoffs coming up. Kansas City plays in the late-afternoon slate of games on Sunday, so if you plan on starting Ware be sure to have a backup plan in place in case he's inactive.

Spencer Ware | Free Agent RB

Spencer Ware (hamstring) was officially a full participant in today's practice.

This is a great start to the week for Ware, and we anticipate he'll be ready to go for Week 17 against the Raiders. We'll update you if anything changes, but expect Ware to be a full participant throughout the week before not being listed on the final injury report ahead of the weekend. Assuming he plays, Ware will be at least a solid FLEX option with fantasy titles on the line. Damien Williams playing well in his absence prevents him from being a sure-fire RB1/RB2 that should be locked into all lineups.

Spencer Ware | Free Agent RB

Spencer Ware (hamstring) is officially inactive for Week 16.

Ware was listed as doubtful for tonight’s game against the Seahawks, so this was expected. Damien Williams will again lead Kansas City’s backfield and is at least a strong RB2 option with fantasy titles on the line. Ware might just be rested in Week 17 if the Chiefs clinch the No. 1 seed with a win tonight.

Spencer Ware | Free Agent RB

Spencer Ware (hamstring) is officially listed as doubtful for Sunday night.

This is a bit of a surprise after Ware was limited in practice this week while being considered day-to-day, but the Chiefs probably want to play it safe with an eye toward the postseason. Putting Ware out there at less than 100% could potentially lead to worsening the hamstring injury. Expect Damien Williams to lead the Chiefs backfield against Seattle on Sunday night, and he's at least a strong RB2 option as the lead ball-carrier in an elite offense.

Spencer Ware | Free Agent RB

Spencer Ware (hamstring) officially remained limited in today's practice.

Back-to-back limited practices is a pretty good sign for Ware, but we'd feel really good about his status if he can get a full practice in tomorrow. He's likely headed for a questionable tag when the final Week 16 injury report is released tomorrow, which could complicate things for fantasy owners with the Chiefs playing Sunday night.

Spencer Ware | Free Agent RB

Spencer Ware (hamstring) was officially a limited participant in today's practice.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid called Ware day-to-day and said the injury that forced him to miss last Thursday's game is minor, and we'd expect he'll be ready to go. Ware might have played last week if it wasn't a short week. It's also worth noting that Ware is no longer listed with a shoulder injury in addition to the hamstring, so the former ailment appears to be healed now.

Spencer Ware | Free Agent RB

Spencer Ware (shoulder/hamstring) is officially out against the Chargers.

Ware was listed as doubtful on the official injury report, so this was expected. Damien Williams will lead Kansas City’s backfield and is immediately an RB2 option for the second week of the fantasy playoffs. Chracandrick West and Darrel Williams are also likely to chip in, but they are both just deep-league FLEX options.

Spencer Ware | Free Agent RB

Spencer Ware (shoulder/hamstring) is officially listed as doubtful for Week 15.

On a short week dealing with both a hamstring tweak and a shoulder issue, this isn't a surprise. Damien Williams is now set to lead Kansas City's backfield, and he's immediately a strong RB2 option against Chargers. Hopefully this is just a one-week absence for Ware, who should remain on all fantasy rosters.

Spencer Ware | Free Agent RB

Spencer Ware (shoulder/hamstring) will not practice today.

Ware also didn't participate in yesterday's walkthrough, so his status isn't looking good on a short week after he missed the end of Kansas City's win against Baltimore with a hamstring injury. Damien Williams needs to be a top waiver-wire add this week if he's still available in your league. Hopefully Ware is able to work his way into playing on Thursday night, but he's looking on the doubtful side of things for now.

Spencer Ware | Free Agent RB

Spencer Ware gets 20 touches in Week 14.

Ware carried 15 times for 75 yards and caught five passes for 54 yards in the Chiefs' overtime victory against the Ravens. This was a tough matchup against the team No. 1 in points allowed to opposing running backs, but Ware ran the ball very well and grinded out positive yardage all game for the Chiefs. He missed the end of the first half after an apparent shoulder injury on a nice 31-yard catch-and-run down the sideline, but he returned in the second half. He didn't appear to be in the game in overtime, as he apparently injured his hamstring; his situation obviously must be monitored with a short week this Thursday night against the Chargers. Aside from the injuries, the only downside to the performance was that Damien Williams took a couple of short touchdowns (including a run up the middle that Ware probably would've easily converted for one yard). Ware's status will be monitored closely leading up to Thursday night.

Spencer Ware | Free Agent RB

Spencer Ware has returned for the Chiefs.

Ware is back after getting X-rays on his shoulder area, and it's great to see his injury isn't serious. He's looking to build off his 77 total yards in the first half against a tough Ravens defense.

Spencer Ware | Free Agent RB

Spencer Ware leaves game with apparent shoulder injury.

Ware just took a hit and landed on his right shoulder after a long reception late in the first half. He was down for a bit before getting up and walking to the sideline while favoring that right shoulder. Hopefully the injury isn't too serious, but we'll update you as more information becomes available. With under two minutes remaining in the first half, his status might not be known until after halftime.

Spencer Ware | Free Agent RB

Spencer Ware scores in first start of the season.

With Kareem Hunt now out of Kansas City, Spencer Ware started at running back for the Chiefs as expected and played well. He ran 14 times for 47 yards and a touchdown along with one reception for five yards. The score came at the goal line on a direct snap to Ware from a wildcat formation. Damien Williams (five carries for 38 yards) was also involved and played well, but Ware is fully expected to lead the backfield over the final four games of the season. Next week against Baltimore is a very difficult matchup to open the fantasy playoffs, but Ware is still an RB2 option while playing in one of the league's best offenses.

Spencer Ware | Free Agent RB

Spencer Ware scores in Week 10.

Ware carried two times for six yards and a touchdown along with one reception for seven yards against the Cardinals. The score came on a three-yard carry at the goal line as he lined up as a fullback and received the handoff on a misdirection play. It was good to see Ware get into the end zone for the first time this season, as the former starter (coming off a serious knee injury from last year) has been playing exceptionally well behind Kareem Hunt this season. Ware is a deep-league FLEX option next week against the Rams.

Spencer Ware | Free Agent RB

Spencer Ware gets six touches in Chiefs' win.

Ware carried twice for 12 yards and added four receptions for 69 yards against the Browns. One reception was a nice one-handed grab down the sideline, and Ware is playing really well mixing in behind Kareem Hunt. You can consider the former Chiefs starter a FLEX option in PPR leagues, but he'd be an immediate RB1 if Hunt misses time for any reason.

Spencer Ware | Free Agent RB

Spencer Ware plays well in Chiefs' win.

Ware mixed in behind Kareem Hunt and received his most extensive work of the season in the blowout over the Bengals, carrying eight times for 59 yards (with a long of 34 yards) and catching three passes (on three targets) for 30 yards. Ware is one of the best handcuffs out there, but he doesn't have a ton of standalone fantasy value right now. He's a significant real-life contributor, though.

Spencer Ware | Free Agent RB

Spencer Ware handles four touches in loss to New England.

Ware rushed twice for five yards and caught two passes for nine yards. The LSU product will continue seeing a handful of touches behind Kareem Hunt, but he’s worth rostering as a handcuff more than he is a standalone fantasy option. We’ll see if he makes an impact against the Bengals next Sunday night.

Spencer Ware | Free Agent RB

Spencer Ware gets two touches against the Jaguars.

Ware carried one time for zero yards and added one reception for 13 yards in the Week 5 win. He's a great veteran presence, but Ware is not a fantasy option at the moment.

Spencer Ware | Free Agent RB

Spencer Ware gets two touches against the Broncos.

Ware carried the ball twice, gaining six yards in the Week 4 win. Ware continues to mix in behind Kareem Hunt, but he's not currently getting enough work to be a viable fantasy option.

Spencer Ware | Free Agent RB

Spencer Ware gets three touches in Chiefs' win.

Ware had one carry for one yard and two receptions (on three targets) for 29 yards against the Niners. The former starter is yet another great weapon for Kansas City's offense and could probably be more involved moving forward, but his role isn't big enough to be a recommended fantasy option at the moment.

Spencer Ware | Free Agent RB

Spencer Ware gets one touch in Week 2.

Ware had one carry for three yards in a win against the Steelers. He can't be trusted in fantasy lineups as long as Kareem Hunt is healthy.

Spencer Ware | Free Agent RB

Spencer Ware handles four touches in Week 1 win.

Ware rushed three times for 32 yards and caught an eight-yard pass. The highlight came on a 27-yard run, and Ware should continue to get a chance to make plays thanks to Andy Reid's dynamic play-calling that uses a lot of pre-snap action to keep defenses guessing. Still, he is more of a handcuff to Kareem Hunt than he is a standalone fantasy option.

Spencer Ware | Free Agent RB

Spencer Ware is participating in Chiefs training camp.

After a knee injury suffered last preseason forced Ware to miss the entire 2017 season, he's back and basically at full strength for the start of training camp. Chiefs head athletic trainer Rick Burkholder says Ware "looked great, bringing him along slowly," so the team is likely being cautious with the season still about a month-and-a-half away. Kansas City has a talented group of running backs, but Ware figures to be the primary backup behind Kareem Hunt if he's 100%. Remember, Ware played very well and totaled nearly 1,400 yards in 2016. His presence shouldn't affect Kareem Hunt's fantasy value much, though.

Spencer Ware | Free Agent RB

Spencer Ware is out for the season, according to Ian Rapoport.

The expectation was Ware would be out for the season and unfortunately, he will be. Rapoport says surgery for Ware is "imminent" and then he will have to go through intense rehab to get back. Rookie Kareem Hunt is stepping right in as Kansas City's starter, and the Chiefs had been giving him a good amount of work with the first team behind Ware. As for Ware, hopefully he can make a full recover for 2018, as he's only 25-years-old and still should have a bright career ahead of him.

Spencer Ware | Free Agent RB

Chiefs running back Spencer Ware is expected to be out for the entire season.

He has a torn PCL and other damage to the knee, and it's thought to be a season ending injury after the initial diagnosis by the Chiefs head trainer Rick Burkholder. Chiefs reporter BJ Kissel says they are getting a second opinion, so there's still some hope; but the most likely scenario is Ware missing the entire season with the injury. Rookie Kareem Hunt will immediately step in as an every-down back for the Chiefs, and his ADP is going to sky rocket in the coming days. Hopefully Ware and the Chiefs end up getting some good news.

Spencer Ware | Free Agent RB

Spencer Ware reportedly avoids ACL injury.

Last night, the Chiefs reportedly believed Ware avoided an ACL injury, and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport says Ware "suffered damage to his LCL & PCL." Ware is going to miss time, but it's unclear how long he'll be out and Rapoport says there will be more tests to determine the timeframe. It's still possible Ware's injury keeps him out for a while, but it sounds like he won't be missing the entire season. During Ware's absence, rookie Kareem Hunt will be the clear lead back for Kansas City and will have a lot of fantasy value as long as he is.

Spencer Ware | Free Agent RB

Andy Reid calls Spencer Ware's injury a sprained knee.

Ware will get an MRI, but Ian Rapoport reports the ACL is believed to be intact and that Wate is not expected to miss the entire season. Of course, aware isn't in the clear yet and we'll have to see what the MRI says. Even if Ware's ACL is fine, there could be enough damage to the knee that he misses a significant amount of time and/or the season. Hopefully it's not as bad as it appears and Ware can get back on the field soon.

Spencer Ware | Free Agent RB

Spencer Ware goes down with knee injury in Chiefs' third preseason game.

Ware was splitting time with rookie Kareem Hunt on the game's first drive before suffering a non-contact knee injury and getting carted off of the field. Hunt will handle the bulk of first-team work for however long Ware will be out, which unfortunately looks like it could be an extended period of time. Ware was already ruled out for game, and we'll update you when more information becomes available.

Spencer Ware | Free Agent RB

Spencer Ware gets one touch in Chiefs' preseason game.

Ware had one carry for three yards before giving way to rookie Kareem Hunt for first-team work. The bad news (for Ware's fantasy value) is Hunt did extremely well when he entered the game. But the good news is the Chiefs might see Ware as the clear number one if they are fine with getting him out of the game quickly to keep him ready for the regular season. Given Hunt's impressiveness, Ware does carry some risk if you're drafting him to be a near-workhorse for Kansas City.

Spencer Ware | Free Agent RB

Spencer Ware caps opening preseason drive with a score for the Chiefs.

Kansas City's offense went right down the field on the Niners, and Ware worked as the clear starter. He had four carries for six yards and three receptions for 20 yards, while punching it in from one-yard for a touchdown. Third-round rookie Kareem Hunt could take some work, but it looks like Ware is a good bet to at least open the season as the Chiefs starter at running back. His situation is one to keep an eye on in the second and third weeks of the preseason.

Spencer Ware | Free Agent RB

Spencer Ware leaves Chiefs practice win hamstring injury.

The injury is reportedly "slight." Ware might be held out for the rest of minicamp if the Chiefs want to be cautious, but it shouldn't be a long-term issue. Rookie running back Kareem Hunt might get some solid first team reps if Ware misses more time.

Spencer Ware had eight carries for 34 yards and a touchdown in playoff loss.

The touchdown was late in the fourth quarter and got the Chiefs within two points of the Steelers. Ware surprisingly only got eight carries in the game, despite some success on the ground. It's hard to predict Ware's 2017 fantasy value without knowing the status of Jamaal Charles.

Spencer Ware | Free Agent RB

Spencer Ware (rib) was a full participant in practice for the Chiefs.

It's a great sign that he's a full participant for the Wednesday practice. He should be good to go for Sunday against the Steelers.

Spencer Ware | Free Agent RB

Spencer Ware (ribs) inactive for the Chiefs.

The Chiefs are playing for the number two seed (with a win and Oakland loss) but will be without Ware. Charcandrick West will start for KC and is a solid RB2. Ware ends his regular season with 214 carries for 921 yards and three rushing touchdowns, and 33 catches for 447 yards and two touchdowns receiving. He should be good to go for the Chiefs in the playoffs, especially if they can secure a first round bye.

Spencer Ware | Free Agent RB

Spencer Ware totals 82 yards against Denver.

Ware had 13 carries for 62 yards and two catches for 20 yards including a nice over the shoulder catch on a dump off from Alex Smith that went for 20 yards. Ware will be a solid RB2 against the Chargers in Week 17.

Spencer Ware | Free Agent RB

Spencer Ware totals 95 yards against the Titans.

Ware had 18 carries for 70 yards and three catches for 25 yards in Week 15. The Titans run defense played well, and Ware didn't have much room to run. Ware should get 20+ touches on Christmas against the Broncos and will be a solid RB2. The Broncos run defense isn't very challenging.

Spencer Ware | Free Agent RB

Spencer Ware averages under 3.0 yards per carry but sees 21 touches in win.

Ware rushed 20 times for 56 yards and caught one pass for seven yards in the 21-13 win over the Raiders. He was also vultured by Charcandrick West for a touchdown inside the five. Ware hasn't been efficient with his touches recently, but his heavy workloads will keep him as at least an RB2. Hopefully he gets fresh legs with 10 days to rest for Tennessee.

Spencer Ware | Free Agent RB

Spencer Ware snaps scoring drought; scores twice in win.

Ware rushed 14 times for 29 yards and a touchdown, adding three catches for 23 yards and another score. It was the first time Ware has scored since Week 7, but he continues to dominate touches out of the Kansas City backfield. The emergence of Tyreek Hill and the manufactured touches for him may be hurting Ware, but not enough to keep him out of your lineup. He will be on the RB1/2 borderline for the fantasy playoffs, starting this Thursday night against Oakland.

Spencer Ware | Free Agent RB

Spencer Ware gets 19 touches in Week 12 against Denver.

Ware had 17 carries for 64 yards and two catches for 32 yards, including a clutch catch late in the game. Ware continues to be a near-workhorse for the Chiefs and will be a RB1/RB2 next week against the Falcons. Keep him in your lineup.

Spencer Ware | Free Agent RB

Spencer Ware rushed 17 times for 69 yards and caught two passes for 16 yards in Sunday’s loss.

Ware hasn’t scored since Week 7, but needs to stay in fantasy lineups as the focal point of the Chiefs’ offense. Denver should be better coming out of their bye, but they’ve been run on all season, keeping Ware on the RB1 radar for Week 12.

Spencer Ware | Free Agent RB

Chiefs fall behind, Ware sees just 13 carries in comeback win.

Spencer Ware rushed 13 times for 61 yards and caught 3 passes for 11 yards in Sunday's win over the Panthers. The Chiefs were down 17-3 at the half, so Ware didn't get many touches with Alex Smith throwing 38 times. Still, averaging 4.69 yards per carry against a solid defensive front is a good sign for fantasy owners. Ware will again be a solid RB1 next week against Tampa Bay.
