T.J. Hockenson | Lions TE

T.J. Hockenson (ankle) has been placed on injured reserve.

Detroit's first-round pick was injured on Thanksgiving, and his rookie campaign ends with 32 receptions, 367 yards, and two touchdowns across 12 games. Hockenson was never really able to build on his historic debut (6/131/1), but his future is still extremely bright, especially seeing as tight ends rarely become big-time statistical contributors in their first year. The Lions will go with Jesse James, Logan Thomas, and Isaac Nauta at the position over the final four games. He will be a breakout candidate next summer, but Hockenson could end up being overvalued if Detroit still has Kenny Golladay and Marvin Jones at receiver in 2020.

T.J. Hockenson left Thanksgiving game with an apparent leg injury.

Hockenson was injured after making a catch on Detroit’s final drive, and trainers were looking at him on the sideline. Hopefully it’s nothing serious, but we’ll keep you updated when more information becomes available.

T.J. Hockenson (shoulder) is officially active for Thanksgiving.

Hockenson was again listed as questionable entering Week 13, but he's good to go against the Bears. The rookie tight end hasn't done much in the box score as of late and is more of a TE2 option today.

T.J. Hockenson (shoulder) is officially listed as questionable for Thanksgiving.

Hockenson was also listed as questionable last week before playing, so we anticipate he will also play tomorrow against the Bears. If you're using Hockenson in your Week 13 fantasy lineup, just be sure to check that he's active tomorrow morning.

T.J. Hockenson (shoulder) is officially active for Week 12.

Hockenson was added to the injury report yesterday with a shoulder issue, putting his status for today's game in doubt. But the rookie tight end is ready to face the Redskins, so he figures to have his usual role for the Lions.

The Lions added T.J. Hockenson (shoulder) to the Week 12 injury report.

Hockenson is now listed as doubtful for tomorrow's game against the Redskins. While being listed as questionable isn't a terrible sign, this downgrade, along with the Lions promoting tight end Isaac Nauta from the practice squad earlier today, could mean Hockenson is on the wrong side of 50/50. The good news is the Lions kickoff at 1:00 PM ET tomorrow, so Hockenson's status will be known by 11:30 AM ET.

T.J. Hockenson (concussion) is officially active for Monday night.

Hockenson was expected to be ready to go tonight against the Packers, and he is indeed active. If you were planning to use Hockenson in your Week 6 fantasy lineup, you can keep him locked in as a TE option.

T.J. Hockenson (concussion) is officially listed as questionable for Monday night.

Hockenson was a full participant in practice this week, but he's not fully cleared from his concussion suffered in Week 4. We'd think Hockenson will be able to get cleared by Monday night, but be sure to have a backup plan in mind if he's inactive against the Packers.

T.J. Hockenson | Lions TE

T.J. Hockenson (concussion) was a full participant in today’s practice.

This is a great sign, as Hockenson is making progress through concussion protocol and should be close to full clearance. The rookie tight end’s official Week 6 status will be revealed tomorrow.

T.J. Hockenson | Lions TE

T.J. Hockenson (concussion) was limited in Thursday's practice.

We may not know Hockenson's status until Monday night (which puts fantasy owners in a difficult position), but limited participation is obviously a good sign for his chances of suiting up. Unless you were able to get your hands on Gerald Everett, fantasy owners may want to take the risk and roll with the rookie at a very shallow week for tight ends.

T.J. Hockenson gets carted off against the Chiefs.

Hockenson attempted a hurdle, and unfortunately he landed awkwardly and was down on the ground. The cart is now being brought out for the rookie tight end, and hopefully he's feeling OK soon. Before leaving, Hockenson caught three passes for 27 yards and a touchdown.

T.J. Hockenson | Lions TE

The Lions selected T.J. Hockenson with the No. 8 pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.

This is the first tight end to go in the top ten of the draft since the Lions took Eric Ebron in 2014. You can read our scouting report on Hockenson in the link below, but Hockenson is an all-around tight end that does a ton of damage as a run blocker along with his ability as a receiver. Remember, Detroit was close to acquiring All-Pro tight end Rob Gronkowski last offseason before Gronk threatened to retire if he was traded. It's a stretch to say Hockenson is a lot like Gronkowski, but the Lions are obviously going to expect the Iowa tight end to have a big role on offense. Tight ends typically don't provide a lot of fantasy value as rookies, and Hockenson will likely be a late-round selection or waiver-wire player in 2019 leagues.
